One Year Later

A year ago today I took a break from gardening (putting in my headboard trellis...since moved to a new spot!) and posted my first blog post. I so enjoyed reading blogs (garden, cooking, anything about Italy) that I thought I would see if I could use blogging as a form of garden journal. Well, there have been lots of positive things connected with blogging but "garden journaling" isn't one of them. My posts are too random to help much with documenting anything but that's OK...I've gotten enough other benefits to make it a more than worth-while activity. So I'd like to say thank you to all the bloggers who have been so nice about sharing their gardens, their thoughts, and their encouragement.
Thank you for helping me look at my garden in new ways, with more focus (until Garden Bloggers Bloom Day I never realised how long some plants bloom here and how many plants bloom but get overlooked because something else is showier.)
Thank you for letting me see how gardens and gardeners are the same and yet different around the world.
Thank you for connecting me with the world in a much larger way with posts about rain, snow, ice storms, cicadas, drought.
Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm, your hopes, your suggestions, your successes and your failures and for sharing mine as well.
Thank you for saving me money, too, by providing garden stories and photos for free so I can avoid buying every garden magazine that comes along! (At least I've been able to cut back...)
Here's to another year!

Leslie, happy one-year blogiversary! It seems that many of us came on board about the same time. And it's so true that we don't have to buy all those garden magazines to see beautiful pictures when we have a whole blogworld full of them to look at. Happy blogging!

I'm new to blogging, having just started this spring. I would often email my daughter with photos of my flowers and she kept telling me I needed to start a blog. I wasn't sure I would have the time or even enjoy it, but now I am so glad I did! It has been a delight to meet so many others who share a love of gardening.
May you have another great year of gardening and blogging!

Happy Blogiversary, Leslie. I've enjoyed your year of blogging and seeing what you are doing in your garden, and seeing what you have in bloom for Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. I like your picture, it made me look up and think about the possibilities as that vine grows taller and taller.

Hi Leslie! Thanks for encouraging words on my blog and the grass suggestion. I was just looking back at your older blog posts where you said your NY resolution was to grow a brandywine tomato and I noticed today you said you have some on the vine! Congrats!
